New Competitor enters the Genetic testing of Dogs Industry in Australia.
As most Australian dog breeders are aware, there had been a virtual monopoly on the genetic testing of dogs in Australia for the past 3 or 4 years, that was until Keith Irwin, managed to secure the exclusive rights as the Australian Representative for International Genetics Inc, a company based in the Bahamas that carries out the following genetic disease screening tests for many canine breeds :
Progressive Rod-Cone Degeneration (pra-PRCD)
Von Willebrand Disease Type 1 (vWD)
Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC)
Multi Drug Resistance (MDR1)
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM)
Any one of the tests above are only $60 (US) and additional tests carried out at the same time are $30 (US) each per dog. EXAMPLE: An owner/breeder can purchase a PRCD test ($60 US) and an EIC test ($30 US) for a total price of $90.00 per dog. Or purchase PRCD ($60 US), EIC ($30 US) and MDRI ($30 US) for $120.00 US. Or Just the PRCD for $60 US. The actual test must be purchased through www.ingen.bs/Australia. If purchased though this special link for customers in Australia, there is no shipping cost added from the US to your location. This can save an average of $75 US to $100 US per order.
Official Genetic Test Kits can be purchased in Australia Online through this webpage; these cost $14.50 per kit. Test kits can be purchased from local agents in most states, for $10 per kit, but the postage cost of $4.50 needs to be paid though this site. This covers your shipping cost both ways and must be done in conjunction with the actual test ordering from InGen.
When added to the basic test cost above, the total cost is app $A75-77, which compares favorably with other suppliers both locally and internationally.
